My mother has been taking my son with her to church her and the experience they had yesterday was absolutely appaling. My mom was pretty much politely told that my son could not attend sunday school because he can be difficult. First I will say shame on you! All he wanted to do was go to church and learn about god and hr was turned away. What kind of church would do that. Last time I checked that isnt what Gods about. This kind of behavior and messed up stuff is exclactly why... I stopped going to church and questioning my own faith. I grew up in a christian home, im 27 and agnostic now because of horrible stuff like this. The sad thing is my son still decided to stay and just went and sat in with my mom for service because he still wanted to hear about God. Oh, and by the way, my son isnt "difficult at times"(what was said to my mom), he's autistic!!! Im sure that possibility didn't cross the mind of any of the obviously ignorant Sunday school staff. So hopefully you people dont make discriminating against children with disabilities a regular thing. Other people might allow you to treat their children poorly, but this mom will not tolerate it. My son was excluded from the one place on this world that everyone is supposed to be welcomed with open arms at. This is not a house of God in my opinion, and I do know if there is a God he shook his head at the way your "church" treated my son. Neither him or my mom will be returning every again! I plan on taking every avenue I can to make sure I inform as many people in our community about this incident. How a 7 year old autistic boy was turned away from sunday school because sometimes he can be difficult! Sounds like a pretty good story for a news Station or maybe for a newspaper journalist if u ask me. I'll leave you with this, maybe people you have working with kids at your church should take some training classes on how to work with kids with learning disabilities, because ignorance on how to handle something isnt an excuse to be heartless to a child.
One of the reasons I love Northpointe so much..Our kids come first, next to God. Remember, we are educating for our Christian future..God Bless Our Northpointe Kids..♡♡♡♡
